4 Ways to Make Sure Your Homeowners Insurance Is Adequate
These four tips will help you find an adequate homeowners insurance policy.
Not all homeowner insurance policies are made the same. You want to make sure your plan adequately protects you, so here are a few ways you can make sure that you’re properly insured:
1. Meet with your insurance rep annually: You want to ensure you have enough coverage to replace your home if the worst arises.
2. Utilize your real estate agent: Your agent can evaluate your home’s worth and help you figure out how much insurance you need.

3. Know your policy’s limitations: For example, does your policy cover mold? If you can’t get water intrusion remediated quickly, mold can appear six to 10 days later. Unfortunately, some insurance companies don’t cover mold, while others may not cover things like smoke damage. So it’s important to know these limitations.
4. Cheapest is not always best: While it’s important to have a good relationship with your insurance representative, your primary concern should be having good coverage. Otherwise, you could be stuck paying tens of thousands if big problems arise.
